We’re in the midst of some important changes as we transition to a new web host, and we know this has stirred up some questions and concerns from you. We’d like to provide clarity and support, so we've put together this FAQ to address the most common issues the BDSMLR community is currently facing.

Our goal is always to maintain a safe and secure environment where everyone can enjoy what BDSMLR has to offer. This FAQ aims to keep you well-informed as we sort through these problems together. 

Why am I experiencing issues with viewing and uploading images and videos? 

We’re in the process of transitioning to a new web host. This change is necessary as our previous host was unhappy with illegal content posted by a small number of users, which we have actively and consistently blocked. This has led us to find a hosting solution that aligns better with our needs to combat such misuse while ensuring a more stable platform for the community. 

Due to the transition and our heightened focus on augmenting platform security, you may experience intermittent disruptions, especially when viewing and uploading images and videos. These disruptions are part of the necessary improvements we are making to ensure a safer and more reliable user experience.

Here’s what we’re doing to improve the situation: 

• Enhance security measures: We’re taking steps to strengthen our platform's security to better protect our community and comply with ethical standards. Expect improvements in how we monitor and manage content to keep CSAM off BDSMLR.

• Optimize platform performance: As we move to a new web host, we’re making adjustments to improve the overall system stability and performance. Our goal is to create a safer, smoother experience for everyone.

• Keep you informed: We know how crucial a stable platform is to you. We're dedicated to keeping you informed every step of the way.
  

Why is hotlinking currently disabled? Will it be re-enabled in the future?

Hotlinking is on pause to reduce the strain on our servers during this transition period. We understand how important this feature is and we’re looking for solutions that will allow us to bring it back in the future without overloading our system.

Why has new user registration been suspended? Are we stopping new user registrations permanently?

We have suspended new user registrations as a temporary fix to minimize the risk of further abuse reports while we stabilize our new hosting environment. This is not a permanent change. We plan to reopen registrations when we’re sure we can do so safely and securely. 

What happens to users who post, reblog, or engage with abusive content? 

All users who post CSAM will be permanently banned. Those who reblog, engage with, or follow users who post CSAM will face strict sanctions based on the severity of the violation. Read more about our blocking policy for users who post and engage with CSAM.
